Martha A. Reddy

Martha A. Reddy, 78, died Sept. 18 at 11:12 a.m. in her Shillington residence.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Celia M. (Zielinski) Balon.

Reddy had been last employed for 10 years by Construction Fasteners Inc., Wyomissing. She previously worked in sales for John Wanamaker, at their Berkshire Mall location, and part time at both St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield, and Incarnation Lutheran Church, Reading.

She was a member of Incarnation Lutheran Church.

Reddy was a former member of the local gymnastic troupe, "The Sailorettes," who performed in Reading.

She is survived by three sons: Dr. Richard W., Mohrsville; Joseph M., Kutztown; and Michael J., Wyomissing; and three daughters: Joan A. (Reddy) Antosy, Exeter Township; Dr. Patricia A. Reddy, Harrisburg; and Theresa A. (Reddy) Chelius, Sinking Spring.

Other survivors include a brother, John Balon, Bradenton, Fla.; and five sisters: Irene (Balon) McKinney, Reading; twin sister Helen (Balon) Pfaffman, Kenhorst; Anne Balon, Shillington; Dolores (Balon) Dougherty, Phoenix; and Virginia (Balon) Saltzman, Wyomissing.

There also are 11 grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m on Wednesday at the Kuhn Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 498 Bellevue Ave. Reading, PA 19605 or Incarnation Lutheran Church 1101 Lancaster Ave. Reading PA. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
