Marlene (Proger) Hopkins, 80, died January 4, 2012, in her Spring Township residence.

She was the wife of Theodore F. "Ted" Hopkins. Her first husband, Claude H. Bressler, died February 1, 1994.

Born in West Reading, she was the daughter of the late Fritz J. and Lisetta M. (Richter) Proger.

She was a 1949 graduate of Wilson High School.

Marlene was employed by Exide Corporation, formerly General Battery, as an Executive Secretary, retiring in 1988.

She was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Craig A. Bressler, companion of Carol Hasson, Sinking Spring; her daughter, Lisa A. (Bressler), wife of Daniel E. Jenkins, Glen Mills; her brother, Dr. Barton B. Proger, husband of Helen Proger, King of Prussia; two grandchildren, Paige L. Jenkins and Dylan E. Jenkins, both of Glen Mills, and two nieces and two nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Contributions may be made to: American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Ave., Reading, PA 19605.
