Marlene Ann Hummel

Marlene Ann (Malady) Hummel, 80, of Exeter Township, passed away August 7, 2014 in St Joseph Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

She was the loving wife of Gordon "Mick" Hummel, whom she married 59 years ago on June 25, 1955.

Born May 1, 1934 in Lewisburg, she was a daughter of the late Elmer Patrick and Anna Louise (McLaughlin) Malady.

Marlene was a 1952 graduate of Reading High School.

She worked in the retail loan department for Bank of Pennsylvania for 13 years; and American Bank for 4 years, where she retired from. After retiring, she was employed with Wal-mart, Exeter for several years.

Marlene was an avid card player, meeting with her card club girlfreinds once a month for the past 50 years. She also enjoyed music, dancing and trips to Hawaii. Her true joy was supporting all of her grandchildren in all of their activities and sporting events; she was their biggest fan. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her son, Dale E., husband of Christine Hummel of Sinking Spring and her three daughters: Karen L., wife of Jeffrey Schenck of Temple; Lori J. Hummel of Reading and Cheryl A. Egbert, fiancée of Michael Merriam of Bernville. Also surviving are her 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Marlene was predeceased by her sister Maryann Angstaudt.

Services will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Alsace Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
