Marlene M. Forrer, 76, of Reading, died October 11, 2008 in ManorCare, Laureldale.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Stanley E. and Anna Mae (Yohn) Gottschall.
She was a graduate of Reading High School in 1949.
Marlene was a companion for the St. Joseph Living Center for 10 years, retiring in 2000.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Reading, where she was a member of the Altar Guild.
She cherished her pets including her dogs: Flame, Zack, Niknak, Paddy Whack and Priscilla; and her cats: Simba, Simeon and Troubles. She took all five dogs to Berks Heim, schools and day care centers for the elderly.
Marlene was active in the community in the following organizations: Kops at Tops 500, Paws for Wellness at Reading Hospital, Therapy Dogs, Berks County Dog Training Club and Berks County Kennel Club. She knitted baby hats for the Reading Hospital, was a member of Curves on 5th St. Highway and assisted elderly women in the community with cleaning and grocery shopping.
Survivors include a daughter, Kendra K., wife of David DeGezelle and their daughter Kailey H. and their son Michael D., Mohnton and a son, Marshall P., husband of Traci Forrer and their son Thomas R., Wyomissing. Two sisters, Doris R. Hassler, Shillington and Linda E., wife of Kenneth Madeira, Fleetwood also survive her.
She was predeceased by her former husband, Kenneth C. Forrer and son, Randall K. Forrer.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday at 12 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the service at the funeral home.
