Marlene (Kissinger) Fessler, 89, of Muhlenberg Township, PA, passed peacefully at home into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, April 16th, 2026. She was the loving wife of Lee Fessler for over 65 years.
She was born in Auburn, PA, of the late Leon and Meta Kissinger. She was predeceased by a sister, Lucille, and brother, Eugene.
Marlene was the first member of her family to attend college, where she earned her undergraduate degree from Shippensburg State College. Upon graduation, she became a beloved Business teacher in the Muhlenberg School District, where she taught for 25 years. It was there that she formed many lifelong relationships with both fellow teachers and students. She was a proud attendee of her retired teacher group's monthly luncheons.
Upon retirement, Marlene took on a full-time role of babysitting her grandchildren. Whether it was tea parties, wrestling, or reading, Gram was a role in which she both thrived and treasured dearly. In her free time, Marlene was a dedicated card sender to her many friends and relatives in celebration of birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and just to say hello. Her cards were famous for their many stickers and scripture verses.
Marlene was a woman of faith, actively involved in her church as a pianist at Calvary Baptist Church in Shillington. Finally going home to Jesus is her well-earned reward for a life of living her faith. She was also active in the church's prison and youth ministries.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Jeffrey, Reading, and Renee, wife of Larry Snow, Reading, grandchildren, Lydia, Wyomissing, and Zachary, husband of Jordan, Wyomissing, and great grandson, Parker. Her granddogs will miss her dearly, and she will always be remembered as the best granddog sitter anyone could ask for.
A funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 510 Park Avenue, Shillington, on Friday, April 24th, 2026 at 11AM. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private in Laureldale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Calvary Baptist Church at the address above.
