Marlan E. Manwiller

Marlan E. Manwiller, 78, passed away October 16, 2011 in his Muhlenberg Township residence.

Born in West Reading, PA on December 2, 1932, he was a son of the late Elmer O. and Hila (Sharp) Manwiller.

He was a 1950 graduate of Muhlenberg High School and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in 1953 and a Master Degree in 1955 from the Peabody Conservatory of Music of John Hopkins University, where he was the recipient of the Thomas Prize for Musical Scholarship.

Marlan was also a 1963 graduate of the LaSalle University Extension, Chicago, ILL and a 1966 graduate of Blackstone School of Law, Chicago, ILL.

He was a Marine Veteran where he was a member of the Marine Corp Band, Washington, DC and a member of The President's Own from 1955-1959.

Marlan was a self-employed Public Accountant for 35 years.

He was the director of instrumental music with Calvert County (M.D.) School District from 1962-1962.

Marlan was a 50+ year member of POS of A, Camp 68, where he also served as treasurer for many years.

He was also a member and longtime trustee of Lodge #62, F&AM, where he was a 32 degree Mason.

Marlan is survived by a brother, G. Peter, husband of Carol Ann (Bechtel) Manwiller of Muhlenberg Township and a nephew, Rory P. Manwiller of Kenhorst Borough.

Other survivors include three cousins.

Services will be Thursday at 1:00 pm in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Alsace Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
