Mark J. Richel

Mark J. Richel, 62, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018, at St. Francis Home, Mohnton, where he had resided since September. He was the loving husband of his best friend Joanne M. (Maguire) Richel, and they had just celebrated their 20th Anniversary in April.

Born in Reading, Mark was a son of Rita (Fish) and the late William Richel. A graduate of Muhlenberg High School, he was employed by Redner's Markets, last working in August.

Mark and Joanne loved to spend time in Cape May, NJ. He also loved to cheer on his hometown Fightin Phils. An active musician and singer, Mark was a longtime member of St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield, where he was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Contemporary Choir.

In addition to Joanne, Mark is survived by his mother-in-law Joan Maguire, and his four siblings-in-law: Lee, husband of Marlene; Jean Maguire-Agentowicz, wife of Tony; Stephen, partner of Jane Setley; and Raquel "Ludy" Urriola, wife of Kevin. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews: Connor and Brittany Maguire; Jay and Henry Winkleman; Alek, Will, Nate and Carlie Agentowicz.

Mark was predeceased by his brothers Steven and John Richel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 29, 2018, at 10:00am at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 2810 St Albans Dr, Reading, PA 19608, with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 9 to 10am, one hour prior to Mass.
