Mark E. Beard 69, of Lower Heidelburg Township, passed away August 2, 2026, at Arden Courts Old Orchard, Easton, PA.
Mark was born in 1957 in DuBois, Pennsylvania. He spent part of his early childhood in Brockway before his family relocated to Minnesota. His family then settled in Rockton, Pennsylvania, where he was raised alongside his parents, Guy and Beverly Beard.
Following his passion for design, Mark studied architectural design at Jeff Tech in Reynoldsville and graduated from DuBois Area High School in 1975. He then attended Edinboro University, transferring to Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Quantitative Business Analysis as a member of the Schreyer Honors College. He later earned an MBA from Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia.
Mark began his career at Rockwell in DuBois before moving into various roles at AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Agere and LSI Corporation, where he served as Senior Manager of Integration and Transition Management and oversaw global real estate. His work took him to Singapore and China. Mark was diagnosed with early-onset Lewy Body Dementia in his late 50s, leading to early retirement.
In June 2001, Mark married his wife, Kathy, and together they raised two children, Zachary and Abigail, and welcomed three grandchildren: Ella, Austin, and Tessa. A devoted family man, he cherished fishing, traveling, and Penn State and Steelers football; especially his annual fishing trips to Canada with friends. He also gave back to his community as Treasurer of the Berks County Parrot Head Club, Chairman of the Tulpehocken Watershed Association, and Past-President of Trout Unlimited Tulpehocken Chapter 150, supporting stream restoration and habitat preservation.
In addition to his wife, step-children and step-grandchildren he is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Cassie Goldberg; three siblings: Guy Beard, partner of Sandy White, Doreen, wife of Randy Cyone, and Liann Beard; sister-In-Law Tracy, wife of Charles Hamer, brother-In-Law Craig, husband of Francine Lascomb, and sister-In-Law, Kimberly, wife of James Pachuilo. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Raymond A. Lascomb, widower of Sharin A. Lascomb; many nieces and nephews; great- nieces and nephews; cousins; cherished friends and thoughtful neighbors who will miss him dearly.
He was predeceased by his parents Guy & Beverly Beard and his brother Dennis Beard.
Services will be Monday, August 10, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Entombment to follow at Pleasantview Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 10:30 to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
