Marjorie Ellen Betz Robaton, 87, formerly of Stuart, Florida, passed away on September 24 at Country Meadows, Wyomissing.
She was the beloved wife of David P. Robaton. Born on July 7, 1938, in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Clair and Irma (Goss) Betz.
Margie graduated from West Shore High School in Camp Hill, PA, and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Education from Bloomsburg University. She dedicated much of her career to teaching business education at Wyomissing Area School District, where she inspired countless students over the years.
Family was Margie’s greatest joy. She and Dave met in the late 1970s and together raised a beautiful, blended family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Mark) Lacey of Birdsboro; her son, Scott D. Perry of London, England; her stepdaughter, Kellie (Jim) Fidler of Hewitt, NJ; and her stepson, David M. Robaton of Lancaster. She was the proud grandmother of five: Michael B. Rowe, Chase N. Lacey, Taylor M. Lacey, Jessica A. Fidler, and Natasha M. Fidler; and the adoring great-grandmother of Audriana M. Lacey. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Kathy Robaton of Myerstown, and her brother-in-law Johnny (Maria) Robaton of Sessa Aurunca, Italy, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Fredric J. Betz.
Margie embraced retired life in Florida, where she and Dave built a warm and welcoming home. Her legendary Christmas Eve parties brought together family and friends year after year. A consummate travel planner, she explored the world with enthusiasm and loved organizing annual summer family reunions across the country. Her zest for life, love of golf, devotion to family, and her gift for creating joy-filled gatherings are legacies that will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.
She will be deeply missed.
The family extends its greatest gratitude to the teams at Lifesong Hospice and Country Meadows for their devoted and loving care of our mother.
Memorial services will be private at the convenience of the family. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
