Marjorie F. Johnson

Marjorie F. Johnson, 89 of Hamburg died April 25, 2010 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. She had been a guest in the Orwigsburg Manor, Orwigsburg since January 2009. Marjorie was born in Derry, PA and was the daughter of the late Marseilles and Mildred (Cummings) Campbell. She worked for the Torrance State Hospital in Westmoreland County for 17 years as a nurse's aid and in the activities department. She retired in 1984 from the hospital. Marjorie was the former vice president of the Hamburg Crime Watch, a former Girl Scout leader and a volunteer at the Hamburg Senior Neighborhood Center. She is survived by a daughter, Marsha A. wife of Bruce E. Karasack, Upper Bern Township, 3 grandchildren, Leandra Karasack and companion William Hoffman, Shoemakersville, Brandon Karasack, Newmanstown, Lauren wife of Thomas Atkinson, Hamburg, 4 great grandsons, Colton and Hunter Hoffman and Raymond and Sean Atkinson, 1 brother Donald Campbell husband of Grace Campbell, Grafton, Ohio and a sister in law, Genevieve Campbell, Derry, PA. and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 3:00 PM from the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., 40 S. 4th Street, Hamburg. A visitation with the family will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Berks County, 1801 N. 11th Street, Reading, PA. 19604.
