Marilyn L. Pare' Ahearn

Marilyn L. (Potteiger) Pare', 77, formerly of Reading and The Lutheran Home at Topton passed away August 26, 2018, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital of natural causes.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Pearl A. (Fields) Hevalow and Sheldon Potteiger.

She was a 1958 graduate of Reading High School.

Marilyn was employed nearly 20 years by General Battery Corporation, later Exide Technologies as a human resources manager.

Marilyn was a well-known singer/actress in local community theatre for over 20 years spanning from 1966-1986. Included among her noted performances were "Funny Girl", "The Boyfriend", "A Streetcar Named Desire", Cabaret", "Celebration", "Mame", "Gypsy", "Chicago" and "Woman of the Year". She also performed with pianist Tommy Moran at the Crystal Restaurant and in various other local night spots.

She is survived by her daughter, Melissa, wife of Shawn Maffei, Media; her son Michael, husband of Judith Hauck, Reading; her grandson, Seth Hauck, Texas; and step-grandson, Nicholas Maffei, Washington. One sister, Fran Fies, Topton; a niece and two nephews also survive her.

Marilyn was predeceased by her son, Mark Hauck; her sister, Patricia Seidel; and her niece, Tiffany Geibel.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday September 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. at The Lutheran Home at Topton Deibert Hall, 1 South Home Ave., Topton, PA 19562. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Friday before the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Deibert Hall.
