Marilyn D. Leightheiser

Marilyn (Dohner) Leightheiser, 90, passed away on November 10, 2023 at the Reading Hospital. She was the beloved widow of the late Bernard Leightheiser, Jr. She was the daughter of the late John and Mabel (Kalbach) Dohner.

Marilyn graduated from Reading High School in 1951, received her RN from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing, a Bachelor of Science degree from Albright College and a Master's degree from Columbia University.

She was employed as Surgical Head Nurse at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City before her marriage. She was later employed as a School Nurse in the West Hartford, CT and Simsbury, CT school systems. She retired after 15 years of service as a Benefits' Consultant with the Employee Benefit Division of Aetna Life & Casualty in 1991, and was a volunteer in the Out-Patient Surgery Department of the Reading Hospital from 2003-2012.

Left to treasure her memory are son, James Leightheiser, husband of Alice, of Lexington, MA; twin daughters: Ann McCarthy, wife of Ward, of Fairfield, CT, and Gay Mohrbacher, wife of John, of Winchester, MA; and her seven grandchildren: Grace and Charlie Leightheiser; Lily, Rowan and Wyatt McCarthy; and Georgia and Jack Mohrbacher.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marilyn's honor to the Reading Symphony, 147 N. 5th St. Reading, PA 19601. Per Marilyn's request, services will be held privately. Edward J.
