Marie R. Watson

Marie R. (Rocktashel) Watson, 59, died of natural causes November 26, 2017, in her Spring Township residence.

Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Richard J. and Ethel M. (Bradshaw) Rocktashel.

Marie was a 1976 graduate of Wilson High School. She earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh in 1980. She practiced as a nurse for a number of years and relocated to Louisiana. She later transitioned her career to heath care marketing. Eventfully, she returned to the Philadelphia area where she worked for Einstein Hospital and McDonald's corporation in marketing and administration.

Later in life, Marie returned to her roots in nursing. She pursued a master's degree and became passionate about diabetes education earning a certification in diabetes counseling. At the time of her death, Marie was employed by the Reading Health System as a registered nurse and case worker.

Marie was passionate about dogs. She cherished her rescued greyhound, Joshua Skywalker. Marie also loved crafts. She made lovely handmade soaps, and was talented at home décor.

She is survived by her three siblings: Richard J. Rocktashel, Jr., West Wyomissing; Anne Rocktashel, Fairfax, Virginia; and Susan (Rocktashel Lecatsas) Schiavo, Spring Township. She is also survived by two nieces: Emily Schiavo; Nicole Lecatsas; and nephew, Nicholas Lecatsas.

A memorial service will be held at a later time at the convenience of the family.
