Marie Therese Timko, 89, of Cumru Township, passed away November 3, 2013 in St. Joseph Medical Center.
Her husband, John Timko, Jr., died August 16, 2001. John was the former Chairman of the Board for Foster Wheeler Corporation, Clinton, NJ.
Born in Carteret, NJ, she was a daughter of the late John V. and Adelia (Kmetty) O'Donnell.
Marie was a 1940 salutatorian graduate of Carteret High School and earned her B.A. from the College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ, in 1987.
She had worked for M & T Chemical, Woodbridge, NJ.
Marie was an avid sports fan. Her husband had played football for Temple, she enjoyed playing golf, and she and her son rooted for the NY Yankees. She also liked music, sand in the church choir, was a piano player, and loved playing Spanish Eyes on her Hammond organ.
She was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle, R.C. Church, Shillington. When she had lived in NJ she was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Carteret, where she was the Director of C.C.D. for over 15 years.
Marie is survived by her son, Dr. John V. Timko, Cumru Township, companion of Kolin D. Good, M.D., Flying Hills. Also surviving are her granddaughter, Kelly M. Timko, a student at Ithaca College; her grandson, Daniel A. Timko, a student at Mifflin High School; their mother, Ruth M. Timko, Shillington; her niece, Janet, wife of Neil Martin, Austin, TX; her nephew, Thomas Zalewski, Scranton; as well as many other family members and friends.
She was predeceased by her best friend and sister, Winifred B. Moscicki, in 2009.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 10 a.m. in St. John Baptist de la Salle, Kerrick and Mitti Roads, Shillington. A viewing will be held Monday, November 11, 2013 from 6 to 9 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Entombment will be private in St. Gertrude Mausoleum, Colonia, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Timko Family Endowed Football Scholarship c/o Villanova University: 800 E. Lancaster Avenue, Villanova, PA 19085.
