Marie Teresa Scianna

Marie Teresa (DeAngelis) Scianna, 90, of Reading, died February 17, 2014 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

She was the wife of Nicholas Lewis Scianna Sr., who died July 7, 1994.

Born in her South 2nd Street residence on August 11, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Pasquale and Cassandra (Scarpino) DeAngelis.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

Marie Teresa was employed a number of years as a puller with the former H. Oritsky, Inc., Reading.

She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Spartaco Club, Reading.

Marie Teresa is survived by four children: Sandra M., widow of Robert R. Mauger of Reading, Anthony N., husband of Mary Ann (Chioli) Scianna of Exeter Township, Dennis, husband of Debbie A. (Keiser) Scianna of Exeter Township and Joseph Scianna of Reading.

Other survivors include 16 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

Marie Teresa was an avid lover of dogs and will greatly miss two of her furry friends: Dixie and Sonny.

She was predeceased by a son, Nicolas Lewis Scianna Jr., who died February 15, 2005.

Marie Teresa was also predeceased by four brothers and three sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 21st at 10:00 am in Holy Rosary R.C. Church, 237 Franklin Street, Reading. Viewings will be held Thursday, February 20th from 6:30 - 8:00 pm in Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. No public viewing on Friday. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
