Marie C. Mccarty

Marie C. (Canonico) McCarty, 78, died May 26, 2008 at 4:40 pm in her Temple residence.

She was the wife of Paul B. McCarty, at home.

Born August 13, 1929 in Tamaqua, Schuylkill County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas F. and Mary (Macenka) Canonico.

She was a 1947 graduate of Muhlenberg High School.

Marie was employed a number of years as an Infromation Technologist with Aetna Life and Casualty, Reading, retiring in 1994.

She was one of the founders and charter member of St. Herman's of Alaska Orthodox Church, Shillington, where she had served as a church council member, past president and a member of the sisterhood.

Marie is also survived by two children; Michael C. Spinka, Jr., of Temple and Marianne C. (Spinka) wife of William Benton of Albany, New York.

Other survivors include a step-daughter; Connie (McCarty) Palmer of Coconut Bay, Florida and a brother; John, husband of Betty (Adams) Canonico of Reading.

There are also four grandchildren; Jean M. (Spinka) Gross, Michael J. Spinka III, Tiffany M. Benton and Cristal D. Benton and two great grandsons; Joshua and Joseph Gross.

She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Canonico.

Orthodox funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 am in St. Herman's of Alaska Orthodox Church, 133 West Broad Street, Shillington, PA 19607, with Father John A. Onofrey celebrating. A viewing will be held in the church, one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
