Marian Anna Heffner

Marian Anna (Angermann) Heffner, 94, died at 9:15 am on October 14, 2013 in her Lower Heidelberg Township home.

She was married June 1, 1946 to Dr. Scott Hamilton Heffner, deceased (2003).

Born July 9, 1919 in Camden, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Rudolph Angermann. and Cecilia (Dempsey) Angermann.

She was a 1937 graduate of Audubon High School, Audubon, NJ.

Heffner attended writing classes at the University of Pennsylvania, and worked as a proof reader before her marriage. After raising her family in Lancaster, PA, she resumed her work as a proof reader for Lancaster Commercial Printing, retiring in 1975 (when she assumed care of her elderly mother). In 2003, she moved to her current address.

She is survived by four sons, David C., husband of Lindy Heffner, Hampton, Virginia; Scott J., husband of Sally Heffner, Oxford, Maine; William R., husband of Susan Heffner, with whom she resided and Robert J., husband of Sharon Heffner, Somerset, N.J. Marian's other survivors include twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one expected great-grandchild.

She was a member of St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church in West Lawn.

She was an active volunteer for decades in organizations spanning: cub scouts, reading for the blind on tapes and radio, CCD teacher, programs for unwed mothers, hospice volunteer and visiting the elderly. She was an active member of bible study and prayer groups in both Lancaster and Reading. She is remembered for her open and accepting heart and her love for all.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday October 19th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in New St. Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr, New Jersey, at a future date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, St. Ignatius Loyola Church at the above address or the Jesuit Center at 501 N Church Road, Wernersville, PA 19565.
