Marian Donahoe Connelly passed away on May 21, 2025, at The Highlands. She spent her final day with her sons and the absolute love of her life, her husband of more than 63 years.
Marian was born on August 22, 1936, in Chambersburg, PA to Mark and Arlene Donahoe. She married John Thomas Connelly, the son of John P. and Frances B. Connelly, of York, PA, on February 24, 1962. John and Marian lived in Camp Hill, Lewistown and since 1977, several homes in the western suburbs of Reading. Cupid's arrow hit both of their hearts from the moment they saw each other. Theirs is a love story that will last well beyond Marian's passing.
Marian's legacy will be carried forward by her husband and their two sons, Tom and David; Tom's wife Linda and their children Olivia, Sarah, and William; and David's wife Rosangela and their twins David and Isabella. She was predeceased by her sister Janet, and is survived by her brothers Dr. Michael T. Donahoe of Mercersburg, PA and Dr. Robert (Bobby) M. Donahoe of St. Lake City, UT.
After graduating from Chambersburg High School, Marian obtained a bachelor's degree in teaching from Shippensburg College. She taught second grade at several schools in Pennsylvania and volunteered at Whitfield Elementary School (to keep a loving eye on her youngest son David). Driven by her love of gardening, she completed a three-year course in horticulture as well as a docent program at the Barnes Institute in Merion, PA. Her passion for gardening and horticulture was a defining quality during her entire life and has been inherited by her oldest son Tom.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Atonement Lutheran Church in Wyomissing, PA. John, Tom and David are grateful for the support which the leadership of Atonement Lutheran has provided Mom during her final days. Kuhn Funeral Home is honored to assist the Connelly family.
Marian's life was full of love of family, friends and flowers. She will always be treasured by those who knew her and those she left behind. Hers was a life very well lived.
