Maria Rose Zielinski

Sister Maria Rose Zielinski, 86, of the Bernardine Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, died of natural causes on Thursday afternoon, October 10, 2024, at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center, Reading, PA.

She had resided at St. Joseph Villa, Reading, PA since 2024. Born in Reading, PA, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Stella (Kozlowski) Zielinski. Sister Maria Rose entered the Bernardine Sisters on August 11, 1958, and was in her 67th year of religious life.

Sister earned a BA in Education from Alvernia College. She served her ministry in Michigan and Pennsylvania as an elementary and secondary teacher, principal, superior, tutor, driver, receptionist, and local minister.

Sister is survived by her sister Florence Swanger of Mohnton, PA.

Viewing on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at St Joseph Villa, Reading, PA. Mass on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Convent Chapel, Reading, PA followed by burial in the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters' Cemetery, Mount Alvernia, Reading, PA.
