Maria De Lourdes Perez

Maria De Lourdes Perez (Acosta), 80, of Temple, passed away on September 13, 2024 at Hershey Medical Center. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of Virgilio Acosta and Guadalupe Gonzalez.

Maria De Lourdes Perez (Acosta) known on her youth years as "Lan" graduated from la Escuela Superior Luis Muñoz Rivera in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico and attended la Universidad Interamericana, in San German, Puerto Rico. Throughout her professional life, she dedicated herself to the role of a paraprofessional within the New York Department of Education. She was very passionate about her kids and she chose to work with autistic and down syndrome kids, which she loved with all her heart and treated like family, close to her heart like her own.

Maria had a sense of humor like no other, she would laugh until running out of breath and her laugh was so contagious that everyone around her would laugh hysterically, because that's how contagious her vibe was. She loved to dance so much that she had no shame in showing her dance moves on the dance floor or anywhere if she felt the music and wanted to dance. Maria had such a wonderful heart, she was there for anyone no matter the circumstances, when she gave anything to those in need or to anyone she did it from the bottom of her heart, a heart of gold full of love. Maria's love towards her grandchildren was unmatched, out of this world! She would check on them and take care of them like only grandma knew how to do it, she would call and text them to make sure they were good and everything was in order.

Maria loved shopping, especially the excitement of searching for antiques and hidden gems in thrift stores. Her keen sense of style truly marked her as a fashionista, friends called her "La General", because of her super fashion standards.

Surviving are her children: Jose A. Perez, Jr., husband of Johannette, and Kimberly Perez; her loving grandchildren: Joshua Perez, Joey Perez, Joelis Perez, Jake Perez, Ezron Cruz, and Jhianna Perez; and two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Amalia Perez.

My special message to my mom, form Kimberly;

"Mom, like a child needs a security blanket to go to sleep, I miss your voice saying: "Dios te bendiga", before I go to bed. If asked to define Love, my answer is "mom"! YaYa embrace your new home in heaven... if Home is where the heart is, then you'll still alive in mine. Love always, Kim."

Viewing for Mrs. María D. Pérez is scheduled for Wednesday, September 18th, starting at 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at Kuhn Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 5153 Kutztown Rd, Temple PA 19560.

Continuation of 1 hour visitation is scheduled for Thursday September 19th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by procession to Laureldale Cemetery for burial at 11:30am.
