Maria Socorro De Jesus

Maria Socorro de Jesus, 71, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. She was the beloved wife of Pablo de Jesus, Jr. They shared several years together until his passing in 2019.

Born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Juan and Juanita (Gonzales) Guzman. She moved to the United States in 1969, when she was just 15 years old. Maria graduated from Reading High School, and began a career working for AT&T. She had a passion for caring for others, and took pride in raising her children and helping with her grandchildren. That passion led her to a career as a Personal Care Assistant at Reading Hospital and later Manor Care. She also held her Catholic faith close. Maria loved to joke and was known to keep everyone laughing. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and infectious laugh.

Maria's memory will be cherished by her sons, David Rivera, and Jesse Rivera; her grandchildren: David, Yanessa, Adiana, and Jaylyn; as well as her siblings: Miguel, Tony, Dalila, Carmen and Wanda. She joins in Heaven, her husband, Pablo; her parents; as well as her brother, Jorge.

A Celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at 12 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA 19611. Friends and family may gather from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
