Maria Carannante

Maria Carannante, 31, of West Reading, passed away in her home the evening of Thursday, August 12, 2021, after a four year battle against breast cancer. Maria was a daughter of Mario Carannante (Beatriz) of Fleetwood and Amy N. (Arnold) Koenig of West Reading.

A 2008 graduate of Wyomissing High School, Maria took classes at the Reading Area Community College before transferring to Alvernia to study psychology and from where she graduated in 2013. Maria formerly worked with children affected by Autism. Her last employment was with Culligan Water where she was a Commercial and Industrial Administrative Assistant.

Anyone who had the joy of knowing Maria knew a kind and gentle person who possessed a quiet strength. She had the most beautiful smile and the sweetest voice. She loved to travel, and over the last few years, she journeyed to Italy, Aruba, Turks and Caicos, among many other beautiful places. She was a creative soul and talented painter. An angel on Earth, and now an angel with the Lord, Maria will be much missed.

Maria's memory will be forever treasured by her parents; her siblings: Gabriella Carannante (fiancée of Robert M. Calloway) of Sinking Spring; Nathan Koenig of West Reading; Annabella Carannante of Fleetwood; and Lorenzo Carannante of Fleetwood; her nephew Jaiden Whitehurst; her paternal grandfather Ernesto Carannante; her maternal grandparents Kathleen and August "Gus" Arnold of Exeter; her aunts and uncles: Todd Arnold (Stefanie); Becky Krommes (David); Giovanna Massa (Luigi); and Michele Carannante (Anastasia); and a number of cousins. She is also survived by her step father, Michael Koenig of Sinking Spring.

Maria was predeceased by her paternal grandmother, Concettina Carannante.

Services for Maria will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021, at 11:00 AM at GT Church, 1110 Snyder Rd, Reading, PA 19609, with committal services to be held privately. The family will receive friends at the Church from 10:00 AM until the start of services.
