Marguerite A. Staszewski, 80, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at Reading Hospital, peacefully, while in MICU.

Born June 27, 1933 in Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Caryll and Elsie (Werner) Garitee of Fleetwood RD3, where she resided at home until November 1957. She attended Schmehl one room school house on RD3 and received her diploma from Reading High School.

Marguerite was a very proud member of the US Navy, serving from March 1952 thru March 1956. She attended boot camp at Bainbridge, Maryland, two years at Norfolk, Virginia, and transferred to the US Naval Base in Philadelphia. Marguerite, at time of discharge, was a 3rd class storekeeper for a combination of clerical and supply departments.

She had several jobs during her career, including the IRS in Camden, NJ and last, prior to retiring, for Edward Jones Financial of Lansdale, PA.

Marguerite was never afraid to get her hands dirty and enjoyed tending her flower and vegetable gardens, baking, and even chopping wood.

She was the wife of John A. Staszewski of 56 years, married November 30, 1957 at the Holy Guardian Angels Church, Hyde Park, PA.

She is survived by a daughter Michele Ann (Staszewski) Woellner, married to John S. Woellner of Blandon. A brother Francis (Frenchy) Garitee of Muhlenberg Township and her sister Karen Himmelreich of Oley Township. Predeceased by parents Caryll and Elsie, brother Joseph, and sister Betty.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Muhlenberg Township, PA 19605. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Guardian Angels Church at the above address or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675. Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., Laureldale is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnstitzelfuneralhomes.com.
