Marguerite E. "Margie" (Neff) Beisswanger, 88, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Rittenhouse Senior Living, Muhlenberg Township, which was her home for the last eight years.
Born in Reading, on August 20, 1920, Margie was the daughter of Rose R. (Heckler) and Lewis A. Neff.
She was the widow of James W. Beisswanger, Jr., the love of her life, and together they shared 44 years of marriage.
Margie loved people and her greatest treasures were her family and her friends. She was very creative, with a flair for decorating, and she loved doing all types of crafts. She was also an avid reader.
She was a member of St. Mark's UCC, Reading, for more than 70 years and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was an active volunteer with the Berks County Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which she served as Patient Service Chair for 35 years. She was also a former member of the Muhlenberg Women's Club, the Laureldale Garden Club and the Berks County Historical Society.
Margie is survived by her son, David and his wife Colleen of Oakhurst, NJ, and her daughter Judy Snavely of Lancaster. She is also survived by her precious granddaughters, Beth DeLellis, Becky Snavely and Chelsea, Molly, Maggie and Katie Beisswanger.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Mark Snavely and a granddaughter, Jennifer Beisswanger.
Services will be Friday at 12 noon in the Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
