Margene Jones

Margene (Hart) Jones, 88, passed away on March 10, 2026 at Columbia Cottage, Wyomissing, where she resided. She was the beloved wife of William “Bud” Jones. They shared 63 years together until his passing in October 2019.

Born in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Eunice (Miller) Hart. Margene received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Kutztown University, and taught in the Wilson School District until her retirement in 1993. Margene was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola RC. She enjoyed the beach, and often traveled to Ft. Pierce in Florida, as well as reading, playing cards, and spending time with her friends, who affectionately called themselves “The Larks”. Above all,  Margene cherished her family, and loved spending time, and making memories with them - especially during Christmas at 9 Plymouth Circle, trips to the river and having picnics in the backyard. Margene's grandchildren fondly remember family gatherings around the dining room table where Margene was in her "laughing" chair.

Those cherishing Margene’s memory are her children: Jeffrey Jones (Richelle), Gregory Jones (Patricia), and Laurie Wahlman (Robert); her 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 10 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola RC, 2600 St. Albans Drive, Reading, PA 19609, with burial to follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church beginning at 9 a.m. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margene’s honor to the Precious Blood Convent at 1094 Welsh Rd, Reading, PA 19607.
