Margaret S. W. Van Velsor, 67 died November 14 in her Spring Township residence.

Her husband William G. Van Velsor died February 1, 2005.

Born in Phoenixville, Chester County, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Margaret P. (Schrack) Whitelaw.

She had previously been employed as a church secretary first by St. Alban's Episcopal, Wilshire and later by Church of the Bretheren, Wyomissing. Most recently she was employed by Aetna Insurance Company, Reading for 15 years as a claims specialist retiring in 1996.

Van Velsor was a graduate of Friends Central, Overbrook, PA in 1955 and attended William Smith College, Geneva, NY.

She was a member of Christ Church (Episcopal), Reading where she had served on the Vestry and was a chalicer. She was an active member of the Finance Committee and was also a Lector at the church.

Van Velsor was a former Episcopal Diocesan Delegate and an active Evangelism Committee Member for the Diocese of Bethlehem.

She had been a member of the Vestry, Altar Guild and choir at St. Alban's Church. Van Velsor was also the director of hospitality, a Lector and a Chalicer while at St. Alban's.

She is survived by three daughters, Gretchen M.L. Van Velsor, Bethlehem, Northampton County, Beth (Van Velsor) Vorasmarti, Center Valley, Lehigh County and Kate V. (Van Velsor) Fanning, West Reading. Other survivors include one brother William R. Whitelaw, Jr., West Chester, Chester County and two sisters, Elinor W. (Whitelaw) Hunt, West Lawn and Barbara W. (Whitelaw) Gale, Centreville, MD. There are also 5 grandchildren, James Vorosmarti, IV, Grace Elizabeth Vorosmarti, Henry Whitelaw Vorosmarti, Gregory David Velsor Evans and William Dean Fanning.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Christ Church (Episcopal), Reading. Inurnment will be in the Church Columbarium. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Christ Church North 5th and Court Streets Reading, PA 19601.
