Margaret F. Sassaman, 87, formerly of Shillington, died November 24, 2007 in Wyomissing Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been for two years.
Born in Kamiah, Idaho, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Mary E. (Becker) Sassaman.
She was a graduate of Reading High School in 1938; the Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1941 and attended the University of Pennsylvania.
Margaret was an U.S. Army Nurse Corps veteran serving during WW II.
She was a Staff Nurse and later a Supervisor for the Berks Visiting Nurse Association for 36 years retiring in 1983.
Margaret was a member of St. Thomas U.C.C, Reading.
Survivors include one brother, Charles D. husband of E. Jane Sassaman, Boyertown. There are also seven nieces and nephews, Linda (Sassaman) Homo, William Sassaman, John Sassaman, Candace (Sassaman) Phipps, Richard Sassaman, Margo Sassaman and Phillip Sassaman. Five great nieces and two great nephews; and one great-great nephew also survive her.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 12 noon in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to St. Thomas U.C.C.
