Margaret C. Powers

Margaret C. (Edwards) Powers, 88, of Wyomissing, passed away November 29, 2013 in The Highlands at Wyomissing.

Her husband, Dr. Mark J. Powers, died November 13, 1998.

Born in New Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late James J. and Catherine (McGarrity) Edwards.

She was a 1943 graduate of Bzythe Township High School and a 1946 graduate of Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing.

Margaret was a Registered Nurse and worked at various hospitals in the Philadelphia area. She also worked for 16 years with her husband, Dr. Mark J. Powers, D.D.S., in Laureldale and Temple, until her retirement in 1975.

She was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, Sinking Spring.

Margaret is survived by her five step children: Mark J., Jr., husband of Dianne Powers, VA; Patricia, wife of Richard E. Stubblebine, Muhlenberg Township; Michelle, wife of Terry Eckstrom, Wernersville; John Powers, Oley; and David Powers, Reading. Also surviving are her brother, Thomas Edwards, Reading; her sister, Elizabeth Bechtel, Slatington, and her five step-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her step son, Stephen R. Powers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of St. George at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Rd., Laureldale. A viewing will be held Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
