Margaret "Peggy" (Neess) LaParo, 80, of Wyomissing passed away peacefully in her home on July 31, after a short struggle with lung disease. Born June 4, 1935, in Milwaukee, WI, she is the daughter of Ada (Deihl) and Carl Neess.
Peggy is survived by her husband Anthony "Tony" T. LaParo. Peggy and Tony celebrated 58 years of happy marriage on July 20, 2015. Other survivors include: Her sisters, Patricia Schilling and her husband Gerald of Bloomington, MN and Mary "Polly" Neess of La Crosse, WI. Her daughters: Sue LaParo of Williamsburg, VA, Nancy LaParo and her husband Aaron Watters of Highland Park, NJ, Karen LaParo and her husband Richard Rowland of Greensburg, NC. Her grandchildren: Alex Trask, Gwen Trask, and Evan Trask of Williamsburg, VA; Kendall LaParo of Philadelphia, PA, Jaclyn Watters and Eleanor LaParo of Highland Park, NJ; Madeleine LaParo and Christopher LaParo of Greensburg, NC.
Peggy graduated from Milwaukee Downer College for Women in 1957 and worked for two years as a teacher. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Peggy was a homemaker for most of her life. Her good sense of humor was appreciated by her friends and family. She attended every concert, track meet, basketball game, and event that her children participated in and later attended her grandchildren's events. She enjoyed all the time spent with her grandchildren on their summer visits and was happy in their company. She loved family get-togethers and hosted the family every Fourth of July. She loved her dogs and will be sorely missed by Bailey, her Golden Retriever.
She loved to travel and was fortunate to enjoy several cruises with her husband and friends. She enjoyed social bridge with her long time bridge group. She was a member of American Association of University Women (AAUW) and was active in their children's theater program and book sales. She was an avid knitter and enjoyed knitting children's sweaters for grandchildren and friends.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, at 2 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Friends may call Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. in the funeral home.
