Margaret (Peg) Diehl Kahler, Wernersville, passed away Thursday December 16, 2010 at 1 p.m. in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center where she had been a patient for several days. Previously, Peg was a patient of the Phoebe Berks Health Care Center.

She was the loving wife of Vincent H. Kahler. They had been married for 60 years.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Clifford and Helen (Connell) Diehl.

Peg was a graduate of the former Allentown High School and attended the Moore College of Art. She had been Advertising Director of the former Feel-Fine Shops, operated charm school classes, modeled locally and became Mrs. Reading in 1958. She was a certified Catechist, a Literary Council Instructor and a licensed Realtor. She served as a board member of St. Joseph's Hospital, was an active member of the Berks Art Alliance and a recognized local artist.

Peg was a parishioner of the Jesuit Center, Wernersville.

In addition to her husband, Peg is survived by her son, Dennis, husband of Cynthia (Pitcherello), Anthem, AZ and her daughter, Maureen (Kahler), wife of Eric Biassey, West Lawn. Other survivors are her four grandchildren: Ryan Kahler, Dublin, CA; Christopher, husband of Janelle Kahler, Temecula, CA; Nicholas, husband of Shelley Kahler, Lake Oswego, OR and Max Biassey, Birdsboro. There is also a great-grandson, Sean Kahler and a foster great-granddaughter, Zoie.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in Phoebe Berks Village Chapel, Wernersville. A visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Phoebe Berks Health Care Center, 1 Heidelberg Drive, Wernersville, PA 19565. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
