Margaret I. Eisenhofer

Margaret Irene (Horning) Eisenhofer, 91, of Leesport, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 in the care of Berks Heim. She was the loving wife of George M. Eisenhofer, who predeceased her on March 2, 2013. They celebrated together in Heaven 71 years of marriage on June 24.

Margaret was born on February 12, 1930 in Ephrata, PA to Samuel E. and Myrtle I. Horning. She grew up in Berkshire Heights, graduating from Wilson High School in 1948. She then attended the Libby Starr School of Beauty Culture in Reading, PA. She worked as a hairdresser, and a pairer at Berkshire Knitting Mills before starting her family with George. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Wyomissing, PA., now known as Holy Cross U.M.C..

Margaret lived her life devoted to her family. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She will be remembered fondly for every pancake and hamburger fried in her black cast iron frying pan. She enjoyed having friends and family to cook for, and all were made to feel welcome in her home or backyard.

She is survived by her sons: Dennis G. (Rose) of Mohrsville; Dale M. (Loren) of Mohnton; Douglas A. (Karen) of Leesport; and David L. (Stacie) of Mooresville NC. Eight grandchildren: Justin (Fran), Todd (Ellie), Drew (Jen), Erin (Ryan), Courtney (Mark), Cory (Danielle), Joel, and Austin. Eleven great-grandchildren: Katie, Owen, Sami, Keagan, Mallory, Cerina, Derian, Finnley, Quinn, and twins Tessa and Cara. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Eugene Samuel and Donald Leroy Horning.

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the staff at Berks Heim, Country Meadows, and Home Instead Senior Care for all the love and respect shown to Margaret.

Funeral Services for Margaret will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, with Rev. Mandy Miller officiating, and burial to follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to view Thursday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home and again Friday morning from 9:30 am until the start of services.
