Margaret E. Delay

Margaret Elizabeth (Knechtle) DeLay, 97 of Reading, died December 5, 2012 in ManorCare Health Services, Muhlenberg Township.

She was the wife of Roy George DeLay, who died June, 1960.

Born in Stony Creek on Setpember 14, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Elizabeth (Reich) Knechtle.

She was employed as a seamer with the Berkshire Knitting Mills and as a laborer with Halbeisen Kitchens before retiring in 1978.

Margaret is survived by a son, Roy E., husband of M. Theresa (Eagan) DeLay of Fleetwood.

Other survivors include three grandchildren: Roy M., husband of Karen (Watchilla) DeLay of Mountain Top, Luzerne County; Michael D., husband of Janice (Rothenberger) DeLay of Fleetwood and Michele A. (DeLay), wife of Scott Schoener of Fleetwood.

There are also nine great grandchildren surviving.

Services will be Friday, December 7, 2012 at 10:00 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Spies-Zion Cemetery, Alsace Township.
