Margaret M. Allen

Margaret May (Daniels) Allen, 80, of Reading, died August 25, 2009 in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.

She was the widow of Robert Stanley Allen.

Born May 22, 1929 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Christian Monroe and Sara Estela (Seidel) Daniels.

Margaret was a 1947 graduate of Reading High School.

She was employed as a line worker for Wilson Products Company, Reading for 13 years.

Margaret was a member of the American Legion, Reading, Greenfields Fire Company and Haag Post, Reading.

She was an avid bingo player and loved the slots in Las Vegas. She enjoyed spending her time reading, gardening and watching the Philadelphia Phillies.

Surviving is a brother, Robert N. Daniels of Muhlenberg Township; two sisters, Mary Ann (Daniels) Bowers of Geneva, NY and Sara Jane (Daniels) Allen of Reading; a niece, Judith A. Allen-Powell of Nixa, MO; two nephews, James R. Allen of Mohnton and Jeffrey W. Allen of Reading; two great-nieces, Nora J. Long, Carley A. Long and three great-nephews, Calvin R. Long, Jr., Jerimiah E. Allen and James R. Allen, II.

Margaret was also survived by many other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Berks County Memorial Gardens, Rt. 222 & Evansville Road, Maidencreek Township. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale is in charge of arrangements.
