Marcelo A. Manubay, M.D., FACEP, 73, of 1510 Eckert Avenue, Reading died February 11th at 6:45 p.m. in St. Joseph Medical Center where he had been since Monday.
He was the husband of Eugenia "Jean" B. (Bustamante) Manubay.
Born in Naga City, Philippines, he was a son of the late Dr. Sancho T. and Loreto A. (Abcede) Manubay.
He was a member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
Manubay was a 1945 graduate of Ateneo High School, and a 1954 graduate of the University of Santo Thomas Medical School, both in the Philippines.
He was a practicing physician for 47 years, starting with his internship at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey.
Manubay served his residency at Wilmington (Del.) General Hospital and the former Community General Hospital.
He last worked for 34 years at St. Josephs Medical Center in the Emergency Room and in General Surgery before retiring in 2001.
Manubay was Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and was a diplomat of the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
He is also survived by two daughters, Rosalinda B. (Manubay) Jaucian of Naga City, Philippines and Dr. Jeanne M. Manubay of Wyomissing, and two sons, Joseph M. Manubay of Naples, Florida and Dr. John M. Manubay of West Reading.
Other survivors include five brothers, Dr. Ben A., Dr. Sancho A., Dr. Napoleon A., all of Wilmington, Delaware, Dr. Ted A., of Kennet, Missouri and Jaime A., Esq., of Naga City, Philippines.
There are three granddaughters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 am in St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Reading. Viewing Saturday 8:30 - 9:30 am in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Entombment in Gethsemane Mausoleum, Muhlenberg Township. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation, fbo - Emergency Room, 12th & Walnut, Reading, Pa 19603.
