Marcelina Roman-Santiago

Marcelina Roman-Santiago, 84, of 104 Blue Ridge Court, Stafford, Virginia, died June 27th at 8:25 am in Beverly Health Care Center, Stafford, where she had been since June 23rd.

Formerly of 549 Pearl Street, Reading, she was the wife of Jose Santiago of Reading. She was predeceased by her first husband, Celestino Roman, who died August 15, 1968.

Born in Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Nicholasa Aponte.

She was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, where she worked over 20 years as a nutritional aide before retiring in 1985.

Santiago also volunteered for a number of years at the 4H Agriculture Center, Bern Township.

She was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

Santiago is also survived by four sons, Carlos Roman of Reading, Celestino Roman of Kenhorst, Raymond Roman of Allentown and Anthony Roman of Cumru Township.

Other survivors include four daughters, Aida (Roman) Rojas of Reading, Sara Roman of Stafford, Virginia, Norma Roman of Stafford, Virginia and Lucy (Roman) Parry of Shoemakersville.

There is also three sisters, Petra (Roman) Rivera, Maria (Roman) Vasques and Ruthie (Roman) Rodriguez all of Reading and a brother, Maximino Roman of San Jose, California.

She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 am in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Reading. Viewing Wednesday 8:00 - 9:00 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
