Marc W. Creary

Marc W. Creary, 54, Cumru Township, died December 12, 2011 in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital.

He was the husband of Martha Creary, whom he was married to for 29 years.

Born in Reading, he was a son of Betty (Oswald) Creary, and the late William Creary.

He was a 1975 graduate of Reading High School, 1977 graduate of Texas Police Academy and a 1979 graduate of the Reading Police Academy.

Marc was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the 720th MP Battalion in Ft. Hood Texas from 1975-1978.

Marc was employed for over 29 years as a Reading police officer, retiring in 2008. He held a current position working as a detective for the Berks County District Attorneys office in the Forensic Unit.

He was considered an expert in fingerprint analysis and continued his forensic education by taking courses that included: crime scene photography, fingerprint documentation, crime scene blood identification and collection, and forensic anthropology. He also taught a basic evidence technician course.

Marc was an active member of the International Association of Identification.

He was a life-long member of Alsace Lutheran Church and attended Victory Baptist Church. He was a deeply religious man and a constant student of Christianity.

Marc was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed stargazing, astronomy, U.S. History, and the great outdoors. He also enjoyed his large collection of books, music, and movies.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, Alex, Exeter Twp., his daughter, Dana, at home and his beloved dog, Luke. Also surviving is his brother, Michael, husband of Donna and two nieces, Alison and Rachel, all of Everett WA. He will be dearly missed.

A viewing will be Wednesday 5 to 9 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Services and burial will be private. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
