Mamie S. Meckley

Mamie S. Meckley, 92, died December 5, 2010 in her West Lawn residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Ephrata, she was a daughter of the late Stephen H. and Suzanna (Leid) Sweigart.

Mamie worked as a seamstress for various companies, retiring from Rachlin's in 1991.

She was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God, Whitfield, and a former member of the Nazarene Church, Reading.

Mamie loved to serve people. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cleaning as well. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her four children: Larry E., husband of Deborah Meckley, Tyler, TX; Shirley A., wife of Donald E. Hackman, Denver, PA; Nancy L. Martin, West Lawn and Linda M., wife of John K. Hughes, Exeter. Also surviving are three siblings: Aaron S. Sweigart, Ephrata; Clair E. Sweigart, Reinholds and Grace I. Ziemer, Ephrata. There are eight grandchildren: Brad, Ken, Sheri, Denise, Sharlene, Debra, Lisa and Christine and 10 great-grandchildren surviving.

She was predeceased by 8 siblings.

Services will be Friday at 12 p.m. in Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 1110 Snyder Road, Whitfield. A viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.
