Mahlon Leroy Zweizig

M. Leroy Zweizig passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 peacefully in his home in Reading.

He was the husband of Janis (Boltz) Zweizig who survives him. They were married for 61 years. Leroy was born in Reading, PA on June 21, 1925, a son of the late Margaret A. (Lesher) and Levi A. Zweizig. He graduated from Reading High School, class of 1942.

Leroy served honorably in the Coast Guard as a Seaman First Class from 1942-1946 and took an active role in 6 invasions including D-Day. After his service, he worked as an Insurance Claims Adjuster for 50 years at various insurance companies. He was an avid golfer, nature lover, story teller and family man.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Jennifer J. Zweizig and was predeceased by his son Jonathan L. Zweizig in 2012. He was Poppop to Hannah A. Zweizig and Zachary R. Zweizig, both of Wyomissing. He also had two sisters, Jeanette M. Stettler, deceased in 2014, and Elizabeth J., wife of Charles S. Geiger of Reading and various nieces and nephews.
