Magdalen D. Dougherty

Magdalen D. Dougherty, 95, of Wyomissing, died October 8, 2011 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

She was the wife of Harry H. Dougherty, D.M.D, who died June 6, 2006.

Born May 26, 1916 in Marion Heights, PA, she was a daughter of the late Valentine and Mary (Schultz) Doviak.

She was a 1933 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and a 1937 graduate of the Reading Hospital School of Nursing.

Magdalen was employed as a Registered Nurse with The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

Magdalen was the Vice President of both the Dental Auxilliary and Junior Women's Club of West Reading. She was also a Girl Scout Leader of Wyomissing.

She was survived by two sons, Harry H., husband of Florence (Brown) Dougherty Jr., of Great Falls, VA; Dr. Mark G.,husband of Wendy (Yocom) Dougherty of Wyomissing; a daughter, Carol D., (Dougherty) wife of Mark Van Schenkhof of Port Washington, NJ.

Also surviving are three grandchilden, Joseph Dougherty II, Morgan Dougherty, and Ryan Dougherty.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 701 Franklin St., West Reading. Entombment will be private at the convenience of the family.
