Mabel C. Gehris

Mabel C. Gehris, 99, formerly of Herb Road, Temple, died Nov. 15 at 8:35 a.m. in ManorCare Health Services Inc., Muhlenberg Township, where she had resided since Oct. 1, 2001.

Her husband, Charles E. Gehris, died Aug. 17, 1990.

Born in Muhlenberg Township, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Nora (Herb) Kerchner.

Gehris had been employed for 25 years as a machine operator by Wide Awake Shirt Co. Inc., Reading, retiring in 1970.

She is survived by a son, Melvin C., Temple.

There are also two granddaughters, three great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., Laureldale. Burial will be in Spies (Zion) Cemetery, Alsace Township.
