M. Jane Souders

M. Jane Souders, 64, of East Wyomissing Boulevard died of natural causes Dec. 23 at 2:38 p.m. in her residence.

She was the wife of Dr. Thomas B. Souders.

Born in Berlin, N.H., she was a daughter of John S. Sullivan of Berlin, New Hampshire and the late Marguerite (Fortier) Sullivan.

Souders was last employed as a registered nurse.

She graduated from Mary Hitchcock School of Nursing, Hanover, N.H. in 1959, where she was student-body president.

She was president of the Junior League of Reading 1980-81 and the board of Advances of Berks County 1984-88.

She was also president of the Holy Name High School PTA 1985-87. She was a past board member of the Lancaster Country Day School PTA.

Souders was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

She is also survived by two daughters, Erica A. (Souders) Hofmann, Shillington, and Megan E. Souders, at home.

Other survivors include three sisters, Mary (Sullivan) Lucchese, Flying Hills; Elizabeth (Sullivan) McWhinnie; Denver, Colo.; and Deborah (Sullivan) Roberge, Aurora, Colo.; and two brothers, Paul Sullivan, Berlin, N.H., and Phillip Sullivan, Presque Isle, Maine.

There is one grandchild.

Souders was predeceased by a son, Mark E., in May 1971.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading. Viewing Sunday evening 6:30 - 8:30 pm in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading.
