M. Florine Hoover

M. Florine (Ashcroft) Hoover, formerly of Wyomissing, passed away October 27, 2014, in Reading Hospital.

Her husband, Robert J. Hoover, died June 6, 2012; they had been married for 61 years.

Born in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Loretto (Benden) Ashcroft.

She was a 1947 graduate of Reading Central Catholic High School and a 1950 graduate of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing.

Florine was a member of both St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church and St. Catharine's of Siena R.C. Chuch.

She was employed by St. Joseph's Hospital as a Registered Nurse.

She was also a member of the Junior Catholic Women's Club, Catholic Nurses Association, St Joseph School of Nursing Alumini Association, HGA Mothers' Club and CCHS Mothers' Club. She also volunteered at St. Catherine's of Siena Roman Catholic Church, St. Thomas More of Allentown Roman Catholic Church, and St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church.

Florine's most cherished moments were spending time with her family. She enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's activities and sporting events.

In her early years she was an avid bowler and later enjoyed playing bridge and long walks.

Florine is survived by four children: Scott A. Hoover, Reading; Mark R., husband of Patty Hoover, Wyomissing; Terry A. Stibrany, Boulder CO; and Karen M., wife of James M. Scott, Birdsboro. Also surviving are her brother, Dr. Allen J., husband of Ethel Ashcroft, Wyomissing; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Catharine of Siena R.C. Church, 4975 Boyertown Pike, Reading PA 19606. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
