M. Arlene Hess, 88, of Reading Pennsylvania, passed away December 28, surrounded by her devoted family.
Arlene was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who will be remembered by her children, grandchildren, and friends for the sweet, kind, supportive, and vibrant life that she lived.
Born in Reading on 03/26/1927, she was a child model, supported her parents in the family business, and graduated from Wilson High School. She was an avid reader and a world traveler. She was a volunteer and member at the Reading Public Museum and loved oriental art, music, fashion, interior design and a passion for learning.
She was the loving wife of the late Raymond K. Hess, Esq. of Bingaman, Hess, Coblentz, & Bell and was well known in the Reading area as the owner of "Arlene at the Mary Hoyer Shop", an exclusive women's apparel shop for 30 years.
She was generous and kind, reaching out to others in need.
Most important to Arlene was her commitment to being a mother.
The family is grateful for her guidance, stability, encouragement, love, and care.
She was a positive role model on how to live life, work hard, and be responsible.
Daughter of the late William and Mary Hoyer, survived by her loving children & grandchildren, D. Kim, wife of Colette Price, Mohnton, PA; W. Kevin, husband of Clare Price, Oley, PA and Dr. Lynne Price, wife of Dr. Frederick Saunders, Lancaster, PA and Jan Karen Price, wife of Chanoch Shiloh, Brooklyn, NY and her former husband, Jean B. Price, Reading. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Adam Price; Emily Price; Ian Price; Alex Price; Cassie Price; Lauren Saunders and Jodie Saunders and her companion, Bob Long
A private internment will be held Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Pleasant View Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Allegheny Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1327 Alleghenyville Road, Mohnton, PA on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. Reverend Gregory Shreaves, celebrant.
