Luigi Morganti

Luigi Morganti, 74, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away July 21, 2026, at Reading Hospital.

Born in Ascoli Piceno, Italy, he was a son of the late Giacomo and Giacomina (Cagnetti) Morganti.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Phena L. (Churico) Morganti who passed away on May 15, 2021.

He was the Owner and Operator for many years of G&G Mushroom and Morganti Mushroom Farm.

Luigi was deeply devoted to his family, often referred to as "best brother" among his siblings for his unwavering support, compassion and determination, to provide for his family and friends . He took great pride in managing the family mushroom business, where he built strong lasting relationships amongst his employees and with loyal customers over the years. A skilled machinist, jack of all trades, master of many, and an intelligent entrepreneur. Luigi was recognized for his innovative creation of a patented machine known as the “Compacto-bed” that efficiently improved the beginning stages of the mushroom growing process. Later in his life journey, Luigi kept his strong work ethic and continued his passion for helping others through his work at The Heritage of Green Hills, where he was deeply regarded amongst his co-workers and residents.

He is survived by two sons, Robert L., husband of Robin Morganti, West Reading, James F. Morganti, Muhlenberg Township; three siblings: Giuseppina (Gabriele) Coccia, Giovanni Morganti, and Carla (Claudio) Calcagni.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Tuesday July, 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 3121 Kutztown Rd, Reading, PA 19605. Entombment at the Chapel of St. George at Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the church.
