Lucy Ferri McAlpine, born in Loreto, Italy on December 13, 1925, passed away peacefully at home on August 25, 2024.
At the age of eight, she emigrated to the United States with her mother, Assunta, older brother, Guy, and sister, Elsa, joining her father, Pasquale, who had come to America earlier to establish a home for the family. The family settled in Hamburg, Pennsylvania, where Lucy grew up and became a skilled cosmetologist. She opened a successful beauty shop in Hamburg with her sister, Elsa.
Lucy later met and married the love of her life, Charles McAlpine, and moved to Michigan, where they lived for much of her adult life before she moved to Florida. In 2015, Lucy relocated to the Atlanta, Georgia area to be closer to her son, Steve, where she resided until her passing.
Known for her unwavering positivity, love, and caring spirit, Lucy touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a devoted wife and mother, and her legacy lives on through her two sons, Charles Patrick McAlpine and Steven Brian McAlpine (Leslie); her sister, Elsa Rentschler; and her beloved grandchildren, Rebecca Brynne McAlpine, Collin Hugh McAlpine and Landyn Miller. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews: Betsy (Jamie), Michael (Denise), Kristen (Mike), Vickie (Larry), and Debbie (Maury). Her legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on through all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 29 from 6:30 pm – 8:30pm at Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, 40 South 4th Street, Hamburg, PA 19526, and on Friday, August 30 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 94 Walnut Rd, Hamburg, PA 19526.
