Lucy J. Mangrum

Lucy J. Mangrum, 85, of Reading, died April 29, 2010 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Charles F. and Elizabeth L. (Ulrich) Schlaybach.

Lucy lived in Indianapolis, IN, for over 30 years, returning to Reading in 2001.

She was a waitress, working for several restaurants including the Crystal Restaurant, Reading.

Lucy was an avid knitter.

She is survived by her four children: Patrick F. Mullarkey, FL; Samuel H. Jr., husband of Carrie Steele, IN; Kathy J., wife of Dennis G. Kramer, Fleetwood and Jean A. Steele-Prater, wife of David L Prater, Reading. Also surviving are two sisters: Judith, wife of Gene Shurr, Birdsboro; Aprile, wife of Leroy Schaeffer, Oley and her two brother-in-laws: Edwin Williams, Fleetwood and Ralph Young, Reading. She has 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild surviving.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Laurie A. Whitcomb and her two sisters: Ruth Williams and Alice Young.

Services will be Tuesday at 12 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave, West Reading. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
