Lucille M. Cappel

Lucille (Luci) Moyer Cappel, 90, a lifetime educator, and the daughter of Morris William Moyer and Frances Singer Moyer, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2023 at Country Meadows Retirement Community in Allentown, PA. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Leland Lewis Cappel. And she is survived by her cherished partner of 18 years, Raymond Thomas Moyer.

Born and reared in Reading, PA, Luci graduated from Reading High School and Kutztown University, and, after teaching for a year in the Reading School District, moved to the Wyomissing Hills School District, which was later incorporated into the Wyomissing Area School District. She taught in the Wyomissing school districts for 40 years, at various times kindergarten, first, and second grades. Luci dreamed as a child of being a teacher, and she lived that dream. Her love for and commitment to education were recognized formally by her 1973 nomination as Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year and informally by the past students she encountered widely, and who referred to themselves as "Mrs. Cappel's Apples". She also took great pleasure in mentoring other teachers, and in the friendships she formed with all of her colleagues. And who can possibly forget her perfectly-matched outfits and her delicious banana bread?

She is also survived by a loved daughter, son, and two nephews: Cathy Cappel (Joseph

Kotrosits), Steven Cappel (Katherine Fritts), Nolan Moyer (Daryl Thompson), and Marc Moyer

(Susan Moyer).

In addition, she is survived by four devoted grandchildren, who knew her as "Sissy": Steven Naylor (Lisa Naylor), Leah Naylor (Jesse Arnold), Maia Kotrosits (Philip Harland), and Andrea Kotrosits (Anthony Perez).

Lastly, but certainly not least, she is survived by eight loving great-grandchildren: Zander Naylor, Lincoln Naylor, Leland Naylor, Morrison Naylor-Arnold, Georgia Lucille Naylor- Arnold, Rocco Russo, Meredith Perez, and Paige Perez.
