Lucille Theresa Born

Lucille Theresa Born, 91, formerly of Reading, passed away on April 10, 2024, at Country Meadows.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late William and Theresa (Falter) Born. Lucy graduated Central Catholic High School in 1950. She earned an Associate of Arts degree in radio and drama from the Pasadena City College in California and later graduated from Penn State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice, while working full time. A longtime employee of the City of Reading, Lucy began as a Meter Maid in 1961, later working as a Detective and Police Officer. She retired in 1992.

Lucy was a member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Reading. She had a love for the arts, enjoying acting, modeling, attending Broadway plays, and musicals. She also enjoyed sitting on her porch, going for walks, attending her grandchildren's extracurricular activities, entering contests, crossword puzzles, and swimming. She was an avid reader of biographies and enjoyed taking trips to New York City, Stone Harbor, and California. Above all, Lucy loved her family and cherished time with her grandchildren.

Those left to treasure Lucille's memory are her daughter, Lisa B. Hurleman, wife of Jason, Wyomissing and her four grandchildren: Maxwell, Hannah, Audrey, and Claire. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings: Mary Ann Yousaitis (Peter), James Born, Madeline Dimler (George), Veronica Born, William Born (Evelyn), and Joan Davis (Reese).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, 151 N 9th St, Reading, PA 19601, with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the mass at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation.
