Lucia (Morales) Garcia, 92, of Reading, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, at her home.
She was the beloved widow of Antonio Garcia.
Born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Evaristo Morales and Martina Villafañe
Lucia devoted her life to service — both professionally and spiritually. For many years she worked as a Home Healthcare Aide, extending kindness and support to those in need. Even more central to her life was her faith. She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 50 years and joyfully served as a regular pioneer for many years, sharing her faith and hope with others.
She is survived by her children: Edgar P. Gabriel, Luis R. Gabriel, Damaris Garcia (wife of Clayton Lerch), and her adopted daughter, Sandra Gabriel. She is also survived by her sisters, Delia and Esther, and brother Ismael (Macho) as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Freddie Gabriel.
Lucia will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her compassion, and the love she showed to family, friends, and all those around her.
A talk in celebration of her life — and of the resurrection hope she cherished — will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, starting at 1:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3rd and Buttonwood Streets, Reading. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather together in remembrance and hope. As Jesus promised at John 5:28,29: "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out."
