Louise I. Schlegel

Louise I. Schlegel, 91, formerly of Shillington, died October 5, 2009 in The Glen at Willow Valley Skilled Nursing Facility.

She was the beloved wife of Thomas A. Schlegel.

Born July 19, 1918 in Reading, PA., she was a daughter of the late Irvin F., and Rosa (Rehr) Impink.

She was a 1936 graduate of Holy Child Academy, Sharon Hill, and a 1940 graduate of Rosemont College.

Louise was employed as a secretary, working for both Dr. Michael Penta and her brother, Dr. Robert Impink.

She was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington.

Louise loved walking, tennis and gardening. She was a dear friend to many in the Reading area and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her husband, Louise is survived by her two daughters: Mary Ann Schlegel, wife of Jeff Howe, Lancaster and Christine Marie Schlegel, Gilmanton, NH and one granddaughter, Hyla E. Howe. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, that held a special place in her heart.

She was predeceased by her four siblings: Dr. Robert Impink, Ruth Muhlenberg, Virginia Rick and Irvin F. Impink, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. John's Church. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
